This is the song that came to mind today and I can't seem to think of anything else to sing:
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear, And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise, When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies, I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain
The story behind this song is touching. It's short and you might enjoy it. You can find it here:
I have not accomplished as much as I would like this morning, but I'm just getting warmed up. Still about 11 hours til I call it a day.
The first thing I did was get sensible, LOL. When I decided to try this new housekeeping schedule, I went into Photoshop and designed a graphic for it. Well, honestly, going in search of that file, squinting at it, that's just a small time waster. I don't need any time wasters. So today, I resized it and printed it out. Then I slipped it into a page protector and, with scotch tape, hung it on the overhead door of my computer desk. Now, I can just glance up and see what's next. I'm happy I finally got that done. That also keeps this file from being open in my PS workbin all the time. That just eats memory and processing time and causes PS to get sluggish earlier than it should. Someday, I will have 16 GB of ram in this machine and it will be a power house. This kind of stuff will not be an issue. But, for now, this is a good solution.
My blender arrived today. I've unpacked it and it looks nice. It has a lot more speeds than my old one, not that that was a particular matter of concern for me. As long as it will crush ice, I'm happy, LOL. I'm still working in the back of the house, but when I get to the kitchen, I'm gonna give that thing a whirl in the dishwasher and then try it out. Then, perversely, I think I will pack it up and set it aside til tomorrow or next week or next month when the other one cracks to the point I can't use it any more. I'm gonna use that puppy til it falls apart. My primary concern was to not be caught flat-footed when it went. It is used at least once a day, sometimes twice. And I truly believe, based on the location of the crack it is crushing ice that has done it in. And, I'm not likely to stop crushing ice any time soon. So the replacement, which I KNOW I will need shortly, stands at the ready.
Actually my toothbrush and the hanging racks I ordered are due today. I find it a bit odd that I got one item by itself. But, as best I can tell, the minute Amazon fulfills an order or part of an order, they ship it. So, I guess that's the deal. Anyway, I really wanted that toothbrush THIS morning. I used the semi-functional one because it was all I had. I can't wait for the new one to arrive so I can give my teeth a good "power brushing". In fact, I'm wearing a path to the door, looking for it.The way my old electronic toothbrush has been working, I'm sure a "power brushing" is in order!
The hanging rack will be pressed into service within the next few days. Surely by the weekend. I have the only available hanging rack filled about 1/3 with fabric. It won't take me too many turns in the sewing room to have it filled, particularly since I'm working on a stack of fabric pieces big enough for adult clothes. It takes me a little longer because I'm measuring and tagging each piece before I "file" it. Costs time on the front end but I think it will end up being a time saver in the long run. I'm glad I have those 2 hanging racks coming. The correct size is HARD to find. I knew these filing cabinets were not well constructed and kind of "tinny". I did not know that a standard hanging rack wouldn't work in them without major construction work being done on them. Now I know! Well, these filing cabinets were given to me, and I can't be lookin a gift horse in the mouth. I'm grateful for them, odd size and all. They are really helping with the organization of that sewing room! And, being able to pull them out of the garage as I manage to dig them out will be a help out there as well. It's all good. Would you believe I am estimating those babies have been in the garage for 13 years???? Yeah.........
I have also spent about 25 minutes deleting e-mail. No, I haven't made it through today's incoming yet! But, I'm now deleting 2 for every 1 that comes in. Maybe I can get back to even before day's end.
I discovered that El Cheapo has turkeys on sale for $.98 a pound this week. It is on my list! I don't have to make a big thanksgiving dinner to take good advantage of that! I can eat turkey (maybe even sneak in a turkey sandwich, my fave, or two if the wheat in the bread doesn't destroy my digestive system) and just think of the other things I can make with a whole turkey. I promise you, everything that is a part of that turkey is gonna get used, all the way down to the skin and the carcass. And, just think--there's room in my newly cleaned out freezer to store it if I need to! I knew I'd be happy I did that, though I admit the idea of buying a turkey was not on my radar. Where else am I going to get "meat" for $.98 a pound????? Nowhere I can think of.........
The only other 2 items I found that I will buy is Betty Crocker cake mixes for $.98 each and zucchini on sale for $.88 a pound. I am trying to work more veggies into my diet. Zucchini is a good thing! The thing that makes it hard is that I remember buying it for $.39 a pound!
Now I'm going to go get some homemade Greek yogurt for lunch. On the menu today is strawberry. I discovered that the bag of frozen strawberries was getting close to being empty so I'm going to get it emptied and move on. I'm so grateful I've learned to make my own yogurt. It really is a money saver. I am getting about a pound of yogurt for around $1.50. Maybe a few pennies more if you want to add in something extra for the gas expended to heat the yogurt and the gas and water used for clean up. Still a great money saving deal and I am getting nutritious food in the bargain. Controlled sugar (just 1 teaspoon per LARGE serving), lots of protein, and probiotics as well as other nutritional benefits. It's a good thing.
Well, that's it for now. Thank God, nothing earth shaking.
