The other day I decided to give the Master Bedroom a thorough vacuuming. In the process, I opened up both parts of the double doors that lead into the bedroom. When I tried to close and lock in place the one I don't use, it wouldn't stay locked. Years ago I had a dog who was smart enough to figure out she could head-butt the door and make it open. I had barrel locks installed on the inside and the outside of the door, just to keep her out. But, those don't work well unless that "other" door, the one I don't use, is locked in place. And, I couldn't push that lock back in place. Sure enough, Punky was smart enough to figure out how to open the door as well. However, I didn't want dogs slipping in there and doing whatever their evil minds could think up. So, yesterday, I went out to the garage and grabbed a hammer and a screwdriver. I placed the screwdriver against the locking mechanism and gave it a few taps with the hammer. I could not get it into position with my fingers, but the hammer worked just fine.
And, sure enough, Punky tried to get in this morning. I don't know if she saw stars, but she sure stood really still and just kinda stared off into space for a few moments. I have always said "You gotta be smarter than the dog(s)." For once I was--the lock held. I think we'll call her Ricochet from now on, LOL.
So I'm late getting here this morning, but I have all sorts of good reasons. Usually when I blog in the morning, I'm sitting here in my robe. Today I am dressed. Today I have created two overlay patterns for new paper designs. Today I have uploaded goodies for the CT. Yes, I've been busy. I woke up and my mind was going a mile a minute in 1000 different directions. I tried several times to get through my morning prayers and ended up thinking about the craziest things. So, I started working on designing those pattern overlays. Both were very complex and time consuming. That requires FOCUS and that was just what I needed. So now I might be able to blog without sounding like James Joyce. And, I did manage to get those morning prayers said!
I have a benefactor. Through this blog, I've met a nice lady from St. Louis (Hi, Carolyn!). She sent me some extracted hydrangea flowers with permission to use them for Commercial Use. What a deal. She says she has more for me and these hydrangeas were just the test run. I'm so excited to see what's coming. Isn't that a sweet thing for her to do???? I'm sure thankful--it's a real blessing. I love thinking, too, that I will have something to design with that no one else will have. Kinda cool, huh?
Well, I'm done designing papers for the kit with the mommy's day colors. So, it's on to elements. I think I have about 8 done so far......... Long way to go, LOL. I'd like to make good progress on those elements today and tomorrow so that Friday when I update the CT, it will not look like I've been a lazy butt and sat around all week doing nothing.
Around this house, I was not very successful yesterday. I had a headache pretty much all day. I already take pills everyday and it's really hard for me to talk myself into taking more, so like a dummy, I put off taking Ibuprofen til I can't stand it anymore. Anyway, I didn't get much that was on my to do list done yesterday. I did have a new spot to clean. It's yucky so I'm not going into details on that! Suffice it to say I now have one additional spot to rinse today.
I'll be headquartering in the Master Bath today until that room is clean from stem to stern.
I still need to clean out that fridge. How many days has that been on the to do list now? Are you getting the idea that's not one of my favorite chores?
Dining room--boxes, boxes, boxes. Boxes to pack, boxes to move, boxes to carry to the van.......
Out here, dusting awaits. It seems like that is always true. And, unfortunately, I can now see dust on the coffee table again. Guess that means I dust in the living room too........
If I get to the hall, it's time to vacuum that area again and there is still (always?) laundry to deal with.
I sincerely doubt I'll make it to the Master Bedroom beyond rinsing scazillion spots I've cleaned on the carpet. But, if I do, I need to continue work on that dresser. I know there's a flat surface under there somewhere!
So I owe you double eye candy today! When I tried yesterday, for some reason I couldn't see a single post in the gallery at A Cherry on Top. I tried several times, to no avail. Let's see what I can do today...... Laura, aka Art_Teacher, did a 2-page spread using Top Speed.
This little guy is her future nephew. He is the son of the lady her brother is marrying. They all visited a house that her brother and his lady are thinking of buying. Aiden went at "TopSpeed" throughout the whole home tour, LOL. The first paper she used is one of my favorites because it's different. I created it after looking at one of my DH's knit tee-shirts. I don't think there's anything like it out there. Unique is good, right? We all get tired of seeing designers do the same thing from kit to kit and from designer to designer. Laura also used one of the templates from our template pack for that first page. I love the layered stars she's placed around the layout to lead the eye through the photos. Please leave Laura some love here.
Here's a layout by Christy.
Now I have to admit the last thing I thought I'd see when the team posted their layouts was a Halloween page. But, that's what this is! Apparently one of William's favorite shows is Doctor Who. He dressed as Doctor Ten for Halloween. Because of all the blue and black in the photos, this kit works well with them. I love those metal "flowers" which some creative designer cut with tin snips from soda cans. Now that's some kind of recycling, LOL. I can't take credit for being that creative, but I WAS smart enough to buy them. I think they are a great accent to a boy/masculine page. This is a fun layout! Please leave Christy some love here. If you have small children, your chances of knowing something about that title are a lot better than mine. If you have no clue, you and I will be clueless together, LOL.
Alright, minutes are slipping away and I want to get some things done before the noon bell announces lunch. YOU be BLESSED today!
