I mentioned yesterday that we had had an extremely windy night on Wednesday. What I didn't know at that point was the damage that had been done. I had just gotten out of the bathtub. I was dressed in nothing but my robe and slippers when someone knocked on the door. I tiptoed over and peeked out through the peephole to see my next-door neighbor, George, walking away--it took me a while to get there, trying to avoid being knocked down by two large excited dogs. When Joe woke up, I mentioned that George had been knocking and that I hadn't answered. He went to find out what was up but determined that George had gone to work. However, he also noticed that the wind had damaged the front part of our block wall, by the gate. In fact, he said that, were it not for the gate, the whole thing would have gone tumbling down. He got it all sort of back in place and carefully balanced, but it's going to have to be fixed better than that if we don't want a dog or two experiencing a concussion. I work with a guy from Mexico who can fix about anything, and if he can't fix whatever it is, he certainly knows someone who can. So, looks like we'll be giving him a call real soon.........
So, I went to work yesterday and stayed a good long time. Added 4 new employees to the payroll system and did paychecks all around. Then started on the process of catching up with the cash expenditures which I've not been able to enter since the bank locked up on me over a week ago. I'm still not done, but I've made progress. I finally got home around 9PM. On the way, I started to think about what I could eat for dinner. I think by then, my blood sugar was so low you'd have had to prick my big toe to find some, LOL. I knew there was no way I was cooking anything when I got home. I've been thinking fondly of pizza for about two weeks, so I called and placed an order and stopped to pick it up. The pizza place is around 6 blocks from my home. I was surprised to find one guy working alone in the pizza shop. Yes, he had two drivers coming and going with deliveries, but once they were on the road, he was alone. Many years ago, when Jennifer was in high school, she worked at Pizza Hut. It seemed to me they always had half a dozen or so kids in there. Anyway, he told me that they were robbed last week while he was there alone. In that they are so close to where I live, that wasn't good news........
Designing
I think by sometime tomorrow, I'll be able to put a goodbye kiss on my new Mother's Day kit and get it into the stores. If not, certainly by Sunday. It's really turning out pretty.......
Scrapping
Well, I have pages and more pages to show you. Bella Gypsy Designs put out 8 kits for NSD. I scrapped with 4 of them. They all have gorgeous color schemes. Sorry to say, I wasn't thrilled with the photo I used on one of them, but........that's the way it is. They did 7 kits for the 7 days of the week and then threw in an 8th kit for a bonus. The collection is available at special NSD pricing at both Gotta Pixel and Elemental Scraps. I'm sure it will be available sometime soon at ACOT as well, but I just checked and it isn't there yet.
This is NOT a good picture of Jennifer. But, that was kind of the point. I wanted to journal about the recent diagnosis she and Atticus have received. They have Celiac's Disease. Since they've eliminated gluten from their diets, Jennifer is feeling better and we have hope that our little bitty boy is going to start growing like a weed.
Back in March, the kids attended the Spring Fling event at the Law School. The photographer caught this photo of the two boys watching the grown-ups play ball. I was tickled to receive this photo because the colors go well with this kit. I was also tickled that it was such a clear, crisp photo. Then I started to laugh, realizing the photo makes it look as though Will and Atticus were the only two spectators there!
This is the one page I'm not too thrilled with. I couldn't find the photo I wanted no matter how hard I looked, so this photo is from the internet. Years ago, I bought two sweatshirts that were alike, one for me, one for my mother. I gave her hers and never mentioned that I had one like it. She was wearing hers one night when Joe and I got her involved in a Scrabble game. I excused myself and went into the bedroom and changed into the matching sweatshirt. It took her almost half an hour to realize that we were wearing matching sweat shirts. She was so busy with the game........
Two years ago, I was at Jennifer's while she was getting ready for the Barrister's Ball. I managed to snap some good photos of her. This is Bella Gypsy's Friday night/Date Night kit and I thought this photo went well with the theme.
Okay, that's all I can show for now. You have a great day and come back tomorrow for a special surprise!
