Well, it's been a pretty good morning. The count in my e-mail inbox is down 31. I've kept up on my daily blog reading. I've printed two tax returns. One needs W-2s attached and it's complete. The other needs stapled and it's complete. Phew! Both have to go out today!
I started the weekly dusting in the master bedroom. I haven't gotten as far as I'd like because I've been putting things away that have needed to be put away for a few days now. At least it's looking neater in there, even if it's not completely dusted yet. Neater counts!
Now I'm taking a few minutes to eat some leftover pizza. Yes, I weakened and treated myself to my first pizza in 3 months the other night. One thing (there are many more than 1) that has been bothering me lately is, with this tight budget of mine, driving past restaurants where I'd like to be able to enjoy a meal. Pretty much within half a mile of my house is a restaurant which specializes in bagels. They also have sandwiches and salads and serve just breakfast and lunch items. I wanted to stop in there the other day, so bad, to get one of their bagels (they're huge) with strawberry cream cheese (it's so thick you have to scrape some of it off and save it for later). Joe used to bring me one of those every now and then on a Saturday morning. I haven't had one since he died. It's the pits when a $4 item feels like more than I should "splurge" on.............
I just read a prediction that the increase in Social Security is likely to be only 1.5% this year. Wouldn't you just LOVE to know what figures into the numbers used to derive these percentages? One thing I am fairly sure of--they don't count the increases in grocery costs or power or gas rates......... Nevertheless, I'll be grateful for whatever comes along. One thing I know, this increase would not come close to matching the costs for Obamacare for me. I have pretty much decided that if the penalty for not having it is less than the cost, I'm going to have to be penalized. At least I have the comfort that I edge closer to Medicare all the time. What I wouldn't give to have it now. However, it would eat into my Social Security benefit even more than Obamacare. Somethin's gotta give around here!
Okay, well, I need to get to stapling and sorting. The return for my neighbor pretty much has to be handed off to him within the hour so he can have it in his hands before he leaves for work in about 2 hours. I want to get it to him in plenty of time. He's been kind, bringing in my trash cans, little stuff like that. I have been working so hard in this house that by the end of the day, when I think of those trash cans, I'm tired and I don't want to do it. It's such a joy when I don't have to because he already has!
