I am so grateful that verse says to give thanks IN everything and not FOR everything. Something has happened in my little uneventful life for which I would have difficulty giving thanks. On the other hand, I have long espoused the view that after every trial, there comes a blessing if we handle the trial correctly. So, I am going to do my best to give thanks FOR everything. And in the meantime, I'll be sending prayer heavenward for grace. I'm gonna need an extra supply........
So, I babysat last night. The kids were as good as gold. DGD was a sweetheart. When I got there, she very proudly showed me her fingernails and toenails which were painted bright red. She thought that was very special. Of course, Grandma had to make a big fuss about that and then we took pictures of 10 tiny fingers and 10 tiny toes, all with bright red nail polish. DGS1 was largely invisible. Apparently he used his own money to buy a tiny TV for his room from one of the local 2nd hand stores. He got it for $13. It works fine and he was in his room watching videos. DGS2 was playing in his room and pretty much stayed there. He has not been at all friendly or kind to me for some months now and he has been disobedient as well. However, I requested, before I went, that DD have a conversation with him about doing what he was asked to do. He was pouty but took his shower and climbed into bed afterward when asked. When I went in to say good night to him and pray with him, he was still pouty, but it was okay.
By the time I got the two little guys to bed, it was time for DGS1 to jump in the shower and get into bed. I went in to tell him that and found him already asleep in his bed. He was either sound asleep or a very good actor. He did get up several hours later to find himself a late night snack, LOL. Growing boy and all that........
While I was reading DGD a story and getting her to sleep, I kept hearing the cat. Normally the cat is pretty quiet. But last night she was meowing something fierce. Then I'd hear scratching sounds....... I kept getting up, looking for her as she seemed pretty desperate, from the sound of her, but I couldn't find her. I checked all the closets and all the nearby rooms. Finally, about my 4th or 5th try, I found her. She had crawled into a drawer in the chest of drawers and someone had closed the drawer. Poor little thing was trapped in there without benefit of food, water, or litter box. Thank God I found her and set her free.
So, I am getting a very late start to my day. I don't know what I can get accomplished today, but I will have to try to get something worthwhile in spite of a kickoff that is almost 4 hours later than usual.
On the design side, it's still Christmas kit #4. I think I am now at about 50 elements. There's a lot of glitter in this kit so I am having to take that into consideration. Glitter eats a lot of MB. And, so, I'm going to have to watch what I include carefully. My outside limit for elements is 100MB. And, though I love doing glitter any old day, I particularly love doing glitter in Christmas kits. But, I have to make sure Ieave room for all the necessary elements......I will be working on this today.
Around here, I am still struggling with everything that did not get done last week. I am still not going to do a to do list because every room needs SOMETHING done. It doesn't matter where I go in this house, there's a chore or 30 to be done! Job security, you know.....
So, I am going to keep reminding myself that it's all about making progress. I would be happier if I were making progress from a better starting point, but that can't be changed. So, I have to make progress from where I am. One thing I know I have to do is drag in a 3 gallon bottle of water. I have about drained the water cooler dry! I don't think it would be good for that thing to be trying to cool when there is little or no water in it. And tomorrow is trash day, so at some point today I have to get the trash out. I don't have much trash to worry about so hopefully that won't be a big chore.
Well, how about some eye candy. I have some really pretty layouts to share with the new We Give Thanks kit.
As you know, I normally post layouts in the order they are received. However, since this is my blog, I reserve the right to change that up now and then. This page makes me smile because of the cute photo and I could use some smiles this morning. Maybe you could too. Besides the photo, just look at that beautiful cluster Karla has created along the bottom of the photo. I just love the combination of those beautiful fall berries and the golden leaves.
Since this is a thanksgiving kit and this week, in America, is Thanksgiving week, I thought this layout would be fun to share. Christy used We Give Thanks to feature photos and journaling about how much two of her children LOVE the legs of the turkey. She tells us this has been the case since they were small. I love the layers and layers of papers included here because they give you a chance to see the papers in the kit better. I also love the generous addition of "round" things into the mix on this page. It really does help to balance out all the square edges and soften the layout.
Well, that's it for me. I'm off to take my blood pressure and find some good praise and worship music to help me through my day. YOU be BLESSED today.
