We tagged Punkin with that name because she is a sweet dog and orangey in color. I now believe we should have named her Spooky. She is afraid of so many things. Recently it is the box fan that scares her. She will lie in front of it to enjoy the cool breeze, but she's afraid to walk past it. She will stand there and look at it and then finally RUN past it, looking warily at it all the while.
I forget from year to year how much I dislike New Year's and Independence Day. I love what they stand for, it's just the way they're celebrated around here that I dislike. There are ALWAYS fireworks. Fireworks are legal in Nevada. Last night some fool was setting off fireworks after midnight. Now I realize that the arrival of 12:01AM signified the arrival of Independence Day. Nevertheless, there's supposed to be a noise ordinance in place around here with a "curfew" of 10PM. The noise which accompanies the fireworks sets the dogs off so there is the noise of the fireworks and then the noise of the dogs with which to cope. And, really there's not much I can do about either. I was tempted to open the window and yell "STOP THAT!" But, I fought off temptation. Sadly, I know that tonight there'll be more fireworks and more skittish dogs.......
And, with all that there is no frappuccino for me this morning. I used all the milk yesterday and forgot to make a 7-11 run for more......... So, I'm trying to wake up with iced tea.
In theory we're supposed to have a cooler day today with some cloud cover that is supposed to keep the temperature below 100. Unfortunately, that means the humidity is about double what it usually is. But, it's easier for the a/c to dehumidify than it is for it to fight the intense sunlight/heat.
So, I'm not having a picnic. I'm not going to a picnic. I'll be here today, doing what I always do--designing and working on the house. It's an exciting life I lead........ The excitement in my life today will be derived from the church convention I'm "attending" online.
Design
I finished the kit I was working on except the product description. I also took care of replacing that tree that I hated in one kit and made all new previews for it. Then I opened up the one that needed the taxi and did some work on that. I have room for some more elements in that one so I'll work on that today and I'll work on my spreadsheet. I am anxious to get all the bits and pieces work done as I'd like to start a water kit. I have the graphics. I even have the color scheme. I just want this other stuff behind me before I start a new kit.
House
Well, I got more vacuuming done yesterday so both the livingroom/dining room and this office have been vacuumed. I also got some dusting done. This is not feather dusting. I think the place is too far gone for that to help a lot. So, I pulled out the scrub bucket and rag and went after it that way. It's much more time consuming but I think it does a better job when there's a lot of dust which there is right now. I'll work on more dusting today. I can do it while watching/listening to the convention which is an added attraction. (I need added attractions!)
It's time for eye candy. I have some additional layouts to share with you.......
Jeannette, aka Josoliviamaid, created this layout. I wasn't too sure about the few photographic papers I included in the kit. I know some people have a "mental problem" with this type of paper. Jeannette handled it perfectly. She layered on top of it to set her focal images off from the background paper. Good job! You can leave Jeannette some love here.
Here's another one by Jeannette. She used one of our frame clusters for this page and made quick work of it. She added her two photos (one framed in the "stick" frame found in the kit), the butterfly, and the campfire. Then, she was done! And, it looks great! You can leave Jeannette some love for this layout here.
I've been showing you the kits that are up at Funky Playground Designs. Here's another:
This page was created by Jen, aka SarahWhithers. She used The Mighty Jungle and the coordinating templates for this page. Using our template, she had room for 12 photos. I love the little touches of elements she's added to the page. I also like the way she framed out her title information. You can leave some love for this page here.
Christy did this layout. I love her title. Since Christy lives in the Chicago area, I wonder if she derived that title from the way we talk about Chicago's pro football team, "da bears". This is a fairly "simple" layout, in that it doesn't have a zillion embellishments on it. However, the ones that are there are perfectly placed. You can leave Christy some love for this layout here.
So, if your summer plans involve camping or a trip or two or three to the local zoo, HotFlashDesigns has you covered. Now, I have to get on with my day. YOU be BLESSED.
