I am still celebrating the arrival of that bit of money that came yesterday. It will be one of life's wonderful experiences to take it to the bank and deposit it!
I was giggling to myself this morning, thinking about what I could buy. Well, I'm not going to do anything wild and crazy. But, I think I am going to buy myself some new underwear! In 2008, I needed underwear but the economy was slipping into the toilet and our income streams were slipping right along with the economy. No underwear; I made do. We made it a joke. In 2009, it got worse........no underwear, I continued to make do. And we still joked about it. In 2010, it was worse yet and we didn't mention underwear because we'd lost the ability to laugh about it, and I made do. In 2011, after Joe's death, I tightened my belt even further and for sure there were no new underwear. I've waited 4 years and I'm buying new underwear today! So there!
I'm thinking I might also break loose with a $20 bill and get a haircut at Supercuts. My hair is getting pretty shaggy. It's been months since my last haircut.
I just might take myself out to dinner. Unless someone else has been buying, I haven't entered a restaurant in more than a year. I was thinking fondly of the Prime Rib dinner at this little local casino where Joe and I used to go. I can get a decent serving of Prime Rib, a baked potato or french fries, and a beverage and tip for $10. (There's usually some sort of veggie and a roll, but I don't eat the roll, and sometimes the veggie is pretty pathetic looking and I don't eat it either.....Hey, I go for the Prime Rib!)
And finally, maybe, maybe, I will order a tool from Flylady for use around the house. I have a wishlist so maybe I can buy one thing?
And that's it. Should come in well under $100. And then I'm back to the same TIGHT belt I've been wearing, LOL. I want to make this money s-t-r-e-t-c-h..........
So, design wise, I am making good progress on the all-time-favorite-colors kit. Maybe I can be finished with the kit today. I think so. Then it's on to alphas and previews and details. I really would like to have a better showing than I've got now on the spring-ish kit that got pushed out of the way when I got inspired for this one. I have to report to the CT on Friday and, right now, it doesn't look like I've done a thing on that kit since last Friday. Shame on me! I am sure they are all perched on the edge of their seats, waiting to see that kit finished.....
Today, here in the house, I start here in the office. I need to finish up on that credenza and make my way across the room to my side which still needs a lot of work. I'm not sure how long I'll let myself stay over here, because by now the whole room is dusty again, but hopefully I'll make some progress with sorting and pitching on this side of the room.
In the living room, I'm opening that one box that is still sealed up to see if I can find my Vitamin C. Then I'll go through it, see if there's anything I'd rather pitch or donate than store, seal it back up and drag it to the "junk" room.
I'm still sorting clothes in the guest room and I'm still ironing in the "junk" room. I found a really nice shirt that I will enjoy wearing in about a month when it starts to warm up and that is next up to be ironed.
In the hall bath, about all that's left to do is use that Liquid Gold on the cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Otherwise, it is sparkly clean and in good shape. I may dig around in the garage and see if I can find some caulking. If I do, I can caulk around that tub. Needs done before anyone even thinks of turning that shower on........
In the hall, I still have some hanging clothes to put away. It's time to vacuum in there too but that's lower on the priority scale than getting those clothes put away. Another high priority is washing a load of clothes.
In the master bedroom, I'm going back into the closet. Pray for me, LOL! There are still a few things that have fallen on the floor and then I will start going through my current clothes and see what I might want to eliminate. It's maddening that my current clothes are really too big for me now and my other stuff is still a mite too small.........
In the master bath, pretty much all that's left is to go over the cabinet doors and drawer fronts with Liquid Gold. They're gonna be so shiny and the wood will be so much healthier!
There's not a lot of kitchen clean up to do so I'm going to work on the fridge. It's time to empty it out, look for science projects that need to be gotten rid of, and wipe everything down. I HATE spills in my fridge.
Then, in the dining room, I have two boxes to carry to the car--small boxes, thank God. I also have a partially packed box of keeper CDs. I can fit some smaller paperback books in there before closing it up. And that completes the circuit, if I make it that far........
In the middle of all this, there's stuff that needs to go to the van to be donated and stuff in the van that needs to be brought into the house. So, I'll be making those trips too. Hopefully I'm smart enough to drag a load to the van and NOT come back emptyhanded!
And, of course I'm still working on backups. There is still one monstrous file that has to be moved from the working EHD to the new backup EHD. And I think one or two smaller ones. Then I will finally have it all organized and backed up the way I want it. I gave both EHDs the night off so I have to get that whole process going again this morning....
Hey! I forgot to tell you I think I found the source of the night time "drumming". Remember a few nights ago when the dogs barked all night long? I hypothesized it might be construction on the freeway that runs more or less behind my house. Boy, did I get that right! Very near my house is one of the most complex "cloverleaf" things any freeway has ever seen. I thought they were done with that thing. I mean, really, what more could they add? A stranger could end up in Reno and not have any idea how it happened because of the multitude of exits and merges and overpasses, etc. But, they figured something else out. I can't be sure, but I think it's going to be some sort of overpass/exit from the freeway behind my house northbound onto the freeway that links up about a mile away. Anyway, they're constructing this monstrous overpass and I think that was the source of the noise. Of course, around here, construction is done at night, under bright lights, to minimize the disruption to traffic. One day when I have more time I'll opine on that "minimize the disruption" part, but that's theoretically why they do it. So, the mystery is solved, I think.
You will notice there is no mention of cleaning ceiling fans today, even though I have 3 more to clean. I am SORE from all my crawling around on the floor and climbing in the kitchen so I am not contemplating any more climbing for a day or two.
Oh, and here's a fun detail............NOT! I counted last night. There are still 15 boxes to go through in the outer layer of boxes in the garage. I think these are all filled with stuff that was packed up in November, 2008, when Joe started working on painting the living room/dining room. Behind those boxes are boxes and boxes (I can't see them well enough to count them) of stuff Joe moved here from California.........UGH!
Well, it must be time for some eyecandy, right? This is another page by Lori which I love.
Lori's son, daughter-in-law, and grandson live in S.Korea. The thing that strikes me about this page is that the photos, as a whole, do a great job of showing how much love is shared in this little family. I also really like that little cluster of roses and hearts at the center bottom of the layout. You can leave Lori some love here.
Well, I've planned my work for today and the next step is to work my plan. I need to get started. YOU be BLESSED today!
